Election for Spring 2017 Academic Senate Faculty Member at Large Nomination Petition

On behalf of the Committee on Committees, we have posted the nominating petition for the Spring 2017 election to the Queensborough Community College Academic Senate. Based on the Bylaws, the following people are eligible to vote in this election and serve in the Academic Senate: "Lecturers (full-time), Instructors, and the persons in Registrar series, and all individuals in professorial titles who do not hold administrative positions shall have the right to vote for faculty representatives to the Academic Senate and to serve as faculty senators." Article VI, Section 1a. Other relevant sections of the Bylaws are Article VI, Sections 1e and 1f.

The Academic Senate meets once a month on Tuesday afternoon at 3:10 pm in M-136 during the semester. Senators are elected for a three year term and are expected to attend meetings. Candidates will be able to post a short statement about why they are running for the Senate. Details will follow after the Committee on Committees validates petitions.

This spring, 14 of the 41 Faculty Members-at-Large seats will be up for election. Please note: No more than five members of an academic department can serve on the Academic Senate. Typically the department chairperson fills one of these seats. To see the list of the 41 Faculty Members-at-Large. Please contact Professor Mooney if you have any questions about running for the position of Faculty Member-at-Large to the Academic Senate.

Your completed petition must be received no later than noon on Tuesday, February 23rd. Please send it by interoffice mail to Christine Mooney, Administration building, Business Department, Room A-405.
