October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month which is an annual campaign to raise awareness about cybersecurity. The Internet touches almost all aspects of everyone’s daily life. National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) is designed to engage and educate public and private sector partners through events and initiatives to raise awareness about cybersecurity, provide them with tools and resources needed to stay safe online, and increase the resiliency of the Nation in the event of a cyber incident.

President Dr. Diane B. Call welcomed keynote speaker Michael Kalkin, Class of '62 of Queensborough Community College. Michael Kalkin graduated from Queensborough Community College in 1962 with an associate degree in business and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from City College.

    Queensborough Students Took Two of the Top Three Spots in the CUNY & Capital One Community College Innovation Challenge Finals

    The CUNY & Capital One Community College Innovation Challenge Finals took place on May 26 at Kingsborough Community College. This was a 2-semester innovation challenge where students prepared their business ideas for launch. The program was funded by a $45,000 grant from Capital One Bank that Kingsborough Community College and Queensborough Community College received this year. The lead Principal Investigator of the grant was Dr. Edgar Troudt, Assistant Professor in Tourism and Hospitality at Kingsborough and the Co-Principal Investigator was Professor Christine Mooney, Associate Professor in the Business Department at Queensborough.

    Congratulations to Queensborough’s Student Winners in the 2016 Garfinkel Essay Scholarship Contest!

    Queensborough students Daniel Savitz, Wai Shan Ng and Mavis Duncan-Dyer won first, second and third prizes, respectively, in the CUNY category for the 2016 Garfinkel Essay Scholarship Contest held in May. Students from approximately 50 SUNY and CUNY community colleges participated in the annual contest by submitting essay responses to the question: What Role Does Jury Service Play in our Democracy?

    Queensborough’s Mock Trial Team Edges Tufts University to Win the Spirit of AMTA Award and Ties West Point in a Trial Round of the AMTA Regional Tournament

    Competing in the American Mock Trial Regional Tournament at the John P. Cohalan Court Complex in Central Islip New York, Queensborough’s Mock Trial Team edged Tufts University to break a tie for the Spirit of the American Mock Trial Association’s (AMTA) Award. The event was hosted by the Suffolk Academy of Law on February 6 and 7.
