When asked why they chose to attend Queensborough, many of our students responded that QCC was known for its quality programs at an affordable price. This reputation is known as the CUNY Value – the University’s plan to keep its colleges accessible and affordable to the hundreds of thousands of students who annually come through Queensborough's doors to seek a college degree. Queensborough offers an attractive annual tuition cost of only $2,400 per semester for full time students exclusive of fees for FY 16.

Despite this bargain, QCC students still rely on financial aid, scholarships, and awards to help support their academic studies. [Please note: all tuition and fee schedules are necessarily subject to change without notice, at any time, upon action by the Board of Trustees of The City University of New York, regardless of tuition and fee schedules in effect at the time of registration.]

The QCC Fund, Inc. has provided hundreds of student scholarships and awards thanks to the generosity of individual, corporate and private foundations.

Frequently Asked Questions about Scholarships

1. What is a named endowed scholarship?
A named endowed scholarship is established with a minimum gift of $25,000, which can be paid in multi-year installments. The interest from the endowment is used to fund the scholarship on an annual basis. Since the principle investment is never utilized, this is a perpetual gift. The endowed scholarship bears the title of the donor, or name selected by the donor, and is maintained as a separate account within the QCC Fund, Inc. A donor can establish scholarship criteria for student selection, but the criteria cannot discriminate against race, gender, or religion. To learn more about Endowed Scholarships, please contact The office of Institutional Advancement at 718-281-5144.

2. Are there other ways I can donate to student scholarships, besides through an endowed scholarship?
Yes! You can donate any amount to one of QCC's already existing scholarships, or departmental awards including our Merit Scholarship Fund, which recognizes our students' dedication to their academic studies. To contribute to the Merit Scholarship Fund, please click the GIVE TO QCC button above and choose “scholarships” in the drop-down menu.

3. How are scholarships awarded?
Queensborough's Office of Institutional Advancement will work with the donor to develop the award criteria. The Advancement Office will then collaborate with the Office of Student Affairs or the appropriate academic department or program to select recipients on an annual basis.

4. Will I know who received my scholarships?
Yes, the office of Institutional Advancement keeps this information in its records.
