This event featured two guest speakers:

Professor Jody Resko, Department of Social Sciences, presented " Math Anxiety in Pre-Service Teachers: A case for Conducting Research in the Classroom”

In addition to highlighting the research that she is conducting involving negative attitudes and anxiety towards math in pre-service elementary education students, Professor Resko will be discussing ways to get students interested and involved in research by bridging the gap between research and practice by conducting classroom research.

Professor Monica Trujillo, Department of Biological Sciences and Geology, presented on “SARS-CoV-2, wastewater and the CUNY-Immigrant Team"

This is the story of how a CUNY immigrant team developed a protocol to detect the SARS-CoV-2 genetic signal in NYC wastewater during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also about wastewater surveillance becoming a great tool for public health, and a vision of possible roles for CUNY in NYC.
