Use of Student Activity Fees (SAF)

Queensborough Community College has been very busy preparing our students to be successful, since COVID-19 struck in the Spring 2020 semester and moving forward in the Spring of 2026. We recalibrated and retooled, all of our Divisions and did what was necessary to serve students in a remote environment at the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020 and now, returning to a more engaged on-campus environment in the Spring of 2026. The College and specifically, the Office of Student Affairs is committed to the continuous support of our students going forward.

Over the years, our (SAF) Student Activity Fee funding have been used to support Student Life on our Queensborough Community College Campus, including the Student Government Association (SGA), Student Clubs, and Student Organizations. This Spring 2026, these important Services will continue to be provided in an in-person setting for all students. Whether you join an Honor Society such as, Lambda Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, or a Special Interest Club, like the Modern Language Society or the Motor Club, be sure to take advantage of the rich experiences offered by being active outside of the classroom. This year will again include college-wide events that feature Celebrations of Cultures through the Student Government Association (SGA) Heritage Month Celebrations, social events such as, parties and workshops. As students who are active in Student Life are more likely to graduate. The Spring 2026 Club Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, February 4th at 12:00-2:00pm in the Student Union Building Upper-Level Lounge.

The very important Student Activities Fee (SAF) fuels the funding of the other vital parts of the Queensborough Community College Campus. These include: Athletics, Sports Teams, Recreational Activities, the Aurora Yearbook, the Communique Student Newspaper, and the Cultural Council, which supports Events that feature Dance, Theatre, Art, Music, and most importantly, the SAF provides substantial support to the Campus Tutoring Services. Queensborough relies on the Student Activity Fee to provide support to all of our students' tutorial needs. Free Tutoring for each course offered at the College is a Student Service that is not always offered, and this sets Queensborough Community College apart from other Community Colleges.

Lastly, each year our Campus celebrates our Graduates with a really wonderful Commencement Ceremony. The Student Activity Fee played an integral role in the College's ability to host the Commencement Ceremony. We would not have been able to have a proper Ceremony and recognize our students' fantastic accomplishments without this Funding. All of these Events, Activities and Opportunities are only possible through the Student Activity Fee.
