Changes in Salary Administration - Effective January 1, 2025

As of January 1, 2025, two significant changes will take effect regarding salary administration for RFCUNY employees:

  1. New York's Minimum Wage Rate

    The minimum wage for any non-exempt employee will increase to $16.50 per hour. On December 31, 2024, RFCUNY's payroll system will automatically identify hourly rates below this threshold. Managers will receive a prompt to adjust salaries accordingly.

  2. Exempt Salary MinimumTo maintain exempt status, employees in exempt positions must be paid a minimum salary of $64,350 per year, equating to $2,475 per pay period. The following positions are exempt from the salary threshold if the employee's primary duties involve teaching, tutoring, instructing, lecturing, or coaching:
    • Grant Sponsored Teacher -  RF Code 2300
    • Grant Sponsored Instructor - RF Code 2400
    • Workshop Leader - RF Code 3000
    • ISS Training Specialist - RF Code 3002
    • Seasonal/Recreational

Please keep in mind that employee's job duties in response to the new Department of Labor (DOL) regulations. Misclassification or adjustments to duties could result in legal and financial consequences. The duties test for exempt status remains unchanged.
