Pre-requisites (if any): The student must be enrolled in Advanced Beginning or Intermediate Modern Dance and/or Ballet (DAN125, DAN-126, DAN-127, DAN-220, DAN-221, DAN-222, DAN-135, DAN-136, DAN-137, DAN-230, DAN-231, DAN-232) or permission of the department.

Course Description in college catalog:

Repertory II is a continuation of Repertory I. In Repertory II students will rehearse and perform a dance work. Through this process they will gain technical, collaborative and performance skills necessary for a career as a dancer. This class is offered for students who are not cast in Dance Workshop.

Course-specific student learning outcomes:

  1. Students will integrate performance and technical skills into their rehearsal and performance of a work of choreography.

  2. Students will collaborate with other students and with the choreographer/rehearsal director on rehearsal and performance of a dance.

  3. Students will practice punctuality, respectfulness, selfawareness, and will be prepared for rehearsals and performance. They will learn the impact of inappropriate behavior on the group.

  4. Students will rehearse and perform with appropriate musicality, spatial orientation and energy.

  1. Identify and apply the following concepts of dance: space, weight, time, dynamics/energy through writing, movement, performance, or choreography.

  2. Apply fundamental movement skills and knowledge of the body and of kinesiology.

  3. Demonstrate the development of an individual movement voice and application of creative process tools.

  4. Demonstrate the following rehearsal/performance skills: proactive preparedness, punctuality, self rehearsal, self reflection, awareness of your role and role of others in production, effective communication, and perform dance roles with accuracy and expressivity.

  5. Develop and support critical response through writing and/or speech.
