**FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT**

The Nursing Department at Queensborough Community College invites applications for positions of Assistant Professor Nursing. The candidate will perform teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below and will share responsibility for college committees and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.

As a community college in the CUNY system, Queensborough offers a wide variety of courses for university transfer, general education, preparation for careers, and enrichment. Faculty on Assistant Professor tenure track receive reassigned time to pursue scholarly activities and participate in departmental and college activities, including committees, course and program assessment, curriculum development, and preparation of grants. Faculty pursuing doctoral studies in CUNY Programs receive financial compensation for 6 credit hours per semester. For faculty in Assistant Professor Rank, continued scholarly activities are required for tenure and promotion. Faculty also provide academic support and advisement for students. Some evening teaching may be required. Position to start Fall 2024

The department's facilities include a simulation laboratory. **QUALIFICATIONS**

Requirements include Master's Degree in Nursing and RN licensure.

Preferred qualificationsinclude:

Prior teaching experience demonstrated scholarly work or achievement in the field of nursing, and ability to cooperate with others, for the good of the institution.

Strong diversifiedteaching/clinical background with recent experience. Experience in one or more of the following specialty areas preferred- Medical Surgical, Pediatric, Maternity, Psych/ Behavioral Nursing.

A strong preference for community college teaching; Research interests in teaching/learning innovation.

Experience using instructional technology; http://www.qcc.cuny.edu/cetl/high-impact-practices.html Experience with student-centered and high-impact pedagogy, service learning, simulation, and Interprofessional Education (IPE) (see website Experience with course and/or program assessment);

An innovative perspective and non-traditional approach to pedagogy; including simulation experience.

Experience teaching diverse college student populations.

**COMPENSATION**

Commensurate with experience and qualifications ($ 82,928 - $86,645).

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1,2022

City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the Emblem Health HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period. If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day. Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period.

An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to Emblem Health. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by Emblem Health before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the Emblem Health website.
