Dean for Institutional Effectiveness

**POSITION DETAILS**

Under the direction of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean for Institutional Effectiveness will lead the College's strategic planning process, and all matters related to external accreditation, general education assessment, program outcomes assessment and academic program review, and assessment of student learning and institutional effectiveness. The Dean will ensure that assessment activities are strategically planned and effectively implemented, and that assessment results are disseminated in as wide a manner as appropriate. The Dean will work with academic department chairs, Institutional Research, and personnel from Student Affairs to establish, grow, and maintain a culture of assessment for institutional effectiveness.

Specifically, the Dean will:

Lead the College's annual strategic planning processes and oversee the year-end reporting process from all college departments;

Lead preparation of the annual Strategic Alignment Report to the University Chancellor and the college’s annual completion report;

Lead the College's efforts regarding Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) accreditation review;

Administer and coordinate the preparation of institutional accreditation self-studies and edit or provide editorial review to ensure the accuracy and acceptable format of reports that are prepared for external audiences;

Maintain an up-to-date and thorough knowledge of accreditation requirements (institutional and program levels) and communicate changes and other important information to appropriate campus personnel;

Ensure that the College conducts thorough and rigorous academic program reviews in accordance with College and University policies;

Work with academic department chairs to design and implement effective student learning outcomes assessment processes and monitor curricular/instructional changes and improvements resulting from these assessments;

Develop and institutionalize systems to assess the overall effectiveness of the College in meeting its stated mission and provide regular and frequent reports on the results of these assessments to the College President and to the broader college community;

In support of these assessment efforts, oversee the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment and the Director of Assessment;

Serve as the President’s designee on the Senate Committee on Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness;

Ensure appropriate institutional and unit-level follow-up to recommendations and/or cited weaknesses relative to all accreditation and review activities.

The Dean will perform other related duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications relating to the described duties and responsibilities include:

Doctoral degree;

Higher education teaching experience;

Administrative, supervisory, and leadership experience in higher education;

Strong background in college-wide strategic planning and institutional effectiveness initiatives;

Expertise in accreditation (preferably MSCHE), including self-studies, academic program review, and compliance reporting;

Experience overseeing institutional research and student learning assessment;

Record of effective communication and collaboration with faculty and administrators.

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**

Salary range $145,000. - $160,000. Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
