Child Care Resources for QCC Students
We recognize that being both a college student and a parent comes with a unique set of challenges. Balancing classes, assignments, employment responsibilities, and family commitments is not an easy task - and we want you to know that we see the sacrifices you make every day in pursuit of your academic goals. Here at Queensborough Community College (QCC), we understand that your path may look different, your time may be limited, and your priorities may shift from day to day at a moment's notice. That is why we are committed to offering support that meets you where you are!
To help you navigate your academic experience while enrolled at QCC, we have outlined a few child care resources below that may be of interest to you:
- The QCC Advocacy Resource Center (ARC) provides free resources to students including (but not limited to) public benefits screening, financial couching, legal assistance, tax preparation services, housing assistance, food pantry referrals, and more. For assistance, start by completing the Intake Form and then an ARC representative will reach out via phone and/or email within 24-48 hours to schedule an appointment.
- The Child Development Center at CUNY Queens College provides top quality child care and an early childhood education program to meet the needs of both the student-parent and the child. Services are available to student-parents and employees of other CUNY institutions, including QCC, on a space-available basis. You may also wish to explore the child care options available at several other CUNY institutions across the five boroughs.
- Managed by the New York City Department of Education, free or low-cost high-quality early childhood education programs for infants and toddlers are available for qualifying families. Visit the NYC Public School's Infant and Toddler Programming Webpage for more information on eligibility and enrollment instructions.
- The New York State Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) is administered by local social services districts and overseen by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. The goal of the CCAP is to help Temporary Assistance and low-income families pay for child care in order to help them become self-sufficient.
Don't forget to visit the Student Life Webpage for additional resources that are available to you during your time at QCC!
