Early Childhood and Elementary Education

If your interest is early childhood and elementary education, there are two degree programs available to you.

Option I: A unique program designed specifically for students who plan to transfer to the Early Childhood and Elementary Education program at Queens College upon completion of their Associate Degree at Queensborough.  It is a highly structured Dual Joint A.A./B.A. degree program successful completion of the two year curriculum guarantees students entry into the third year at Queens College.

Option II: Students can enroll in the Liberal Arts and Sciences (A.A.) Transfer Program.  Queensborough has articulation agreements with several area colleges so that upon completing the A.A. degree at Queensborough, you can transfer into the junior year in their elementary education programs.

Middle School and/or High School Education

What will you teach? Name your subject: Art, English, History, Music, Physical Education or Social Studies. The Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree at Queensborough Community College prepares students to transfer easily to teacher education programs at several CUNY and area independent colleges. Our transfer articulation agreements insure that the courses taken here are accepted into the bachelor degree program you select. In this program, you will continue your education studies and also concentrate on the subject you wish to teach.

Mathematics Education

“There is a great demand for math educators, and the TIMEQCC* program is a direct response to that need,” says co-director Dr. Mona Fabricant. This Associate in Science (A.S.) program gives students the educational foundation so that they can enter directly into the Secondary Mathematics Education bachelor’s degree program at Queens College or at many other colleges in the area. The program also includes:

  • Paid internships
  • Opportunities for mentored research
  • Tutoring in local high schools
  • Access to transfer scholarships
