NYPIRG

Purpose:

NYPIRG, New York Public Interest Research Group, is New York’s largest consumer Environmental and Government Policy Reform Organization. It is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit group established to effect policy reforms while training students and other New Yorkers to be advocates.

NYPIRG has 22 College Chapters across New York State and in these Chapters students work on Projects that both support NYPIRG’s statewide Agenda and focus on local issues selected by the students. The issues selected for this year are:

  • Voter Mobilization/ Voting Rights

  • Consumer Action Project

  • Small Claims Court Action Center

  • Hunger & Homeless Outreach

  • Straphangers Campaign/ Mass transit

  • Higher Education Funding/ Financial Aid

  • Clean Air and Energy/ Recycling
