Inclusion Representative Committee

Queenborough Community College fills many jobs through a Search Committee process. This process means that a team works together to screen, interview, and recommend candidates to those responsible for hiring.

Members of the Search Committee review the applications of all qualified candidates using screening criteria based on the required and preferred qualifications listed in the job vacancy notice. Search committees develop and receive approval from the Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging prior to any applications being released to the committee for their review.

At Queensborough Community College, every search committee includes an Inclusion Representative from a "pool" of faculty, staff, and administrators who compose the Affirmative Action Committee. The Inclusion Representatives attend orientation sessions that review their roles and responsibilities as members of the search committees and that provide an overview of the CUNY recruitment and hiring practices as well as the federal, state, and city regulations regarding the recruitment and hiring of a diverse workforce.

The members of the Inclusion Representative Committee serve as ex officio members on the search committees. Although they are non-voting members, they screen every applicant, and they monitor the search process at every stage of the search process to ensure transparency in the recruiting and hiring process.

Inclusion Representatives

• attend all meetings and activities relating to the search;
• evaluate each applicant;
• ensure consistency from the search committee members in the application of the screening criteria to every applicant;
• monitor the interview sessions for unbiased comments and equitable applicant treatment;
• advise the committee on best practices to promote equity and inclusion;
• update the Chief Diversity Officer periodically on the search committee's progress.

Faculty, staff, and administrators may participate in the Inclusion Representative committee, and their participation on the committee is a valued service to the College.
