College Discovery's First Induction Ceremony

On Wednesday March 20, 2019, the College Discovery Program hosted its Inaugural Induction and Pinning Ceremony to the Chi Alpha Epsilon (XAE) Notional Honor Society. The program inducted sixteen students and three honorary members. For student inductees a 3.0 GPA must be demonstrated for two consecutive semesters.

In attendance were the Honorable VP Brian Kerr- an honorary inductee from a prior SUNY affiliate- Winston Yarde, Director of the CD program and Co-Advisor of the QCC Chapter, Eta Iota, Katwicia Desruisseaux, Co-Advisor of the QCC Chapter, Cynthia Puca, Counselor, CD program, QCC, Hon. Jeffrey Collins, Coordinator, CD Academic Support Services, QCC, and Hon. Marie-Francesca Berrouet, Director, CSTEP program, QCC.

The Induction Ceremony was performed by the Honorable Dr. Kyoko Toyama, of the LaGuardia Community College chapter of the honor society. She was assisted by Hon. Jeffrey Collins, and two student members from the LaGuardia chapter. Hons. Brian and Marie-Francesca participated in the Pinning Ceremony.

The new inductees all thanked family members and CD support staff for their successes thus far in their academic achievements. They also pledged to continue striving for academic excellence at QCC and beyond.

Like all CD benefits, membership in XAE is transferable to any college with similar opportunity programs – SEEK at the CUNY senior colleges, EOP at SUNY colleges, and HEOP at the private institutions.
