Actions taken by the Academic Senate may be seen here.

The following actions by Standing Committees of the Academic Senate were undertaken:

  • Bylaws Committee amended WID/WAC committee charges
  • Bylaws Committee temporarily suspended Bylaws rules regarding Committee on Committees term limits
  • Publications Committee drafted clarifications to the Faculty Handbook and Tenure and Promotion Guidelines

 

Steering Committee undertook the following actions:

  • Steering Committee presented the Request for Reassigned time to President Mangino, which she        approved. The request for 24 hours was the same as the request for 2022-2023
  • Continued, in accordance with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion needs, recruitment efforts to senators who are Black for membership in Steering Committee. Efforts continued to recruit Senate nominees from diverse backgrounds
  • Worked with Raj Vaswani to conduct BigPulse Senate Faculty Member at Large election, assuming duties of Marketing and Communications staff
  • Created updatable Full Committee Rosters page
  • Updated buttons of Senate access page to streamilne searches and maximize transparency
  • Oversaw Committee on Committee's succesful process improvement
  • Conducted trainings with committee officers on online Information Management System (Cascade)
  • Moderated a townhall with Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost Wendy Hensel
  • Presented nominees for the CUNY Common Core Course Review Committee to the Senate for a vote to select three. Arthur Adair, Melissa Dennihy, and Franca Ferrari-Bridgers were the nominees submitted to CUNY. CUNY selected one nominee to serve on CCCRC
  • Implemented online Zoom office hours
  • Oversaw efforts to return Senate and Standing Committee business to an in-person quorum
  • Served on the Provost search committee

Steering Committee acknowledges the outstanding work of all Senate Standing Committee chairs and secretaries in 2022-2023.

Steering Committee gratefully acknowledges the superior work of Vice Chair Zivah Perel Katz who stepped down from the committee after four years of exceptional service.

Steering Committee thanks Rezan Akpinar for stepping up to serve another year as Parliamentarian. 

Steering Committee thanks Mark Chropufka for assuming the role of Senate Technology Officer

Steering Committee thanks Phil Nelan for stepping into the role of Steering Committee Secretary.
