The Academic Senate Committee on eLearning met on April 9, 2025 1:30PM

Business:
The meeting was called to order at 1:30PM
Secretary took attendance
Angela ask for feedback on 2 ideas she had for her newsletter article. One was the ADA requirement of closed caption on online videos and how a lot of professors don;t know that tuening on captions in YouTube does not fullfill that requirement. The committee universally encouraged her to write that up.
Chair asked for a date for submission of for the newletter articles and the end of April timeframe was ageed to.
The committe spent the rest of the time revising our charges to be sent to the by-laws committee.
Our current charges are:
- Report and make recommendations to the Academic Senate on all matters related to eLearning, in particular concerning policies and procedures related to the development of, support for, and offering of fully online, partially online, hybrid and web-enhanced programs, degrees and classes;
- Develop and disseminate guidelines, standards, and best practices in online instruction to the College;
- Serve as the faculty advisory body for the College’s program for certifying faculty for instruction in online modalities, as developed in conjunction with the Committee;
- Provide standards for assessment of the quality of online course instructional designs, reviewing and revising these standards as needed;
- Work on the assessment process and criteria related to the eLearning program of the College and report findings to the Academic Senate; and
- Serve as an advisory body for all matters related to eLearning.
Our revised charges:
- Report and make recommendations to the Academic Senate on all matters related to eLearning, in particular concerning policies and procedures related to the development of, support for, and offering of fully online, partially online, hybrid and web-enhanced programs, degrees and classes;
- Disseminate guidelines, standards, and best practices in online instruction to the College;
- Offer Pedagogical support to faculty using elearning techniques and technology.
- Serve as an advisory body for all matters related to eLearning.
Next date of meeting is May 14 at 12:30PM tentatively in A414.
