The Academic Senate Committee on eLearning met on April 26, 2023 at 12:00 PM RFK-216


Committee Members in Attendance:

The meeting was called to order at 12:00 PM

Meeting Minutes

April 26th, 2023

1. Meeting called to order by chairperson at 12:11 PM

2. Approval of previous meeting minutes (03/08/2023)-approved (on condition that typo will be fixed)

3. Discussion of eLearning newsletter – Humberto, Daniel, and Punita will provide articles

4. Anthony went to the Student Technology Fee Committee meeting on 3-30 and the main thing they talked about was asynchronous classes. According to a resolution passed at the April Senate, instructors who are assigned to teach an asynchronous course section must have completed one of the following three: Quality Matters, eLearning Institute (now on hiatus), or ACUE)

a. Business Department – Business Administration has been offering this as an asynchronous program

5. The terminology “PNET” and “FNET” designations will no longer be used

6. Anthony and Shenaz will continue to work on the Committee Addendum

7. Discussion of potential dates/times for the new committee to meet – potentially Thursdays at 4 pm, Fall 2023

8. Anthony will take care of the Annual Report

9. Thank you to the leaving members

10. Elections – Anthony has been named Chair for the 2023-24 academic year and Shenaz has been named Secretary for the 2023-24 academic year

11. Anthony asked Celia about the Sandra Palmer Teaching Excellence Award – looking at individuals who have commitment to and demonstrated excellence in teaching and pedagogy. The application is currently live online and requires a nomination.

 

 Next Meeting: May 18th, Thursday, 3 pm (hybrid)
