  5. Ingrid Jaramillo Estrella will serve a full term (2025-2028) on the Curriculum Committee instead of Lisa Halstead who removed her name from consideration after the ballot was presented to and approved by the Senate.
  6. Carolyn King, not Shannon Kincaid, is serving on the Bylaws Committee. (Corrects an error on the ballot supplied to the Senate in April.)
  7. Adair/Talbird FMAL and Committee replacements due to Fall 2025 leaves:
Kahlil Garner (CTMP) will replace Arthur Adair in the Senate for Fall 2025.
Kristen Hoffman (English) will replace John Talbird in the Senate for Fall 2025.
Rezan Akpinar (HPED) will replace Arthur on the Library Committee for Fall 2025.

  9. Vazgen Shekoyen will replace George Fragopoulos on the Curriculum Committee for Fall 2025 while George is on leave.
  10. Jed Shahar will serve a full term on the Committee on Archival Resources. (There was an error on the ballot supplied to the Senate in April.)
  11. Julia Rothenberg will serve a full term on the Committee on Archival Resources. (Denera Ragoonanan left QCC after being appointed to the Committee.)
  12. The Senate and Committee rosters have been updated to reflect all of these changes.
  13. These changes and the FMAL results will be posted as a Committee Monthly Report
  14. CoC members should contact the committees to which they have been assigned as liaisons to ensure the committee websites have been updated with new members and officers.
  15. The Steering Committee will be asked to update the Senate distribution list.
  16. Barbara Rome was asked to serve as Secretary of the Senate.
  17. The Senate website needs to have the "Start Date" of many documents updated so that indexes of pages (e.g., minutes) are in chronological order.

MEMORANDUM

TO: Academic Senate Steering Committee

FROM: Committee on Committees, Sebastian Murolo, Chairperson

SUBJECT: Proposal regarding establishing Meeting Hours on the Weekly Academic Calendar

DATE: Thursday, May 15th, 2025

Whereas, the Academic Senate meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 3PM, and

Whereas, the academic department Chairpersons meet on the second Tuesday of every month at 2PM, and

Whereas, the ability to attain a quorum at Academic Senate Standing Committee meetings often limits the ability of these committees to conduct their business, and

Whereas, the establishment of a posted Standing Committee meeting time has proven difficult for many Committees due to the unpredictability of instructional staff teaching and work commitments,

Be it resolved that: weekly “Committee Meeting Hours” be added to the Queensborough Community College weekly academic calendar on Tuesdays between the hours of 2PM and 5PM.

Be it further resolved that department Chairpersons be discouraged from assigning classroom or other activities to instructional staff during those hours.

Respectfully submitted,

S Benjamin  Murolo
