Celebrating our 2022 Tiger Graduates
Ceremony events will include tributes to our graduates from President Dr. Christine Mangino and special guest speakers.
In addition to hosting this special graduation ceremony here on the College website, Queensborough will be celebrating our graduates and guest speakers with live messaging on Twitter and Instagram during the commencement!
Vaccination Requirements

All guests planning to attend the graduation ceremony must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination (CDC vaccination card or Excelsior Pass) or proof of a negative PCR covid test taken no later than 7 days prior to the ceremony. Home COVID tests will not be accepted!

Currently enrolled Queensborough students (spring & summer 2022 candidates for graduation) must be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine or have an approved medical/religious exemption on file as outlined in the CUNY Vaccination Policy and use their using their TigerCard (physical or digital) to access the campus. Fully online students or those with a medical/religious exemption who are not fully vaccinated must test at a CUNY Testing Site no later than seven (7) days before the ceremony. Home rapid Covid tests will not be accepted!

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Award - awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in promoting racial harmony and appreciation of cultural diversity.
Kalu will transfer to the City College of New York (CUNY) to obtain his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and then pursue a career in the design field.

Ms. Tsz Wa Ellen Chu, ’21, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Associate in Arts degree (A.A.)
Graduated from Queensborough in December 2021, now at SUNY Geneseo pursuing her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.

The John F. Kennedy Award - awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the College and the community.
The Phi Theta Kappa All-New York Academic Team Award - in recognition of scholarly achievements of students enrolled in New York’s Community Colleges presented by New York Community Colleges, the Coca Cola Scholars Foundation, and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
President’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Associate in Arts Degree
Ms. Tsz Wa Ellen Chu, originally from Hong Kong, said, “I especially thank my advisor Dr. Emily Tai for her encouragement. I lost dear ones during the pandemic, and I wanted to help with mental health awareness among students. The PTK Honors Society welcomes everyone.”

“It was a great challenge to balance work, school, and family. I am grateful for my caring professors who encouraged me to stay on the course so I could be successful and earn my degree. My plan is to transfer to a CUNY college and pursue a career as an occupational nurse.”

Espinosa has two children, ages one and twelve. She works part-time during the day in customer service at a parking facility at JFK airport and then takes evening classes at Queensborough from 2:00pm-8:00pm.
“I am an aspiring educator in large part because of my inspiring professors.”
Espinosa will continue in the Dual/Joint program in Early Childhood Education at Queens College where she will double major in Hispanic literature.

Queensborough Nursing Graduate Takes to the Sky, Bringing Urgent Care to Those in Need
Dolores Paul, originally from Queens, received a degree in Neuroscience from Queens College (CUNY), where she concentrated in research on lupus patients. But she was always drawn to nursing, and decided to apply for Queensborough’s nursing program, in part because of her mother. “She attended Queensborough and though she wasn’t able to finish her degree she loved the College and had always wanted to go back, so I followed her footsteps and enrolled in the nursing program.”

For Stephane Zongo, Winning Applications of Learning Along the Way
“My essay is about wisdom, embracing a lifetime of learning,” said former Queensborough student Stephane Zongo who was named second runner-up in the 2022 Asian American/Asian Research Institute Chynn-CUNY Ethics and Morality Essay Contest.
The essay, Winning Applications of Learning Along the Way, reflects looking back to moving on.
“I did not know my father," said Zongo, 40. “As children my four siblings and I played soccer barefoot in the street, we struggled as a family. I carried some of these experiences with me and as an adult came from a place of anger.”

When will I receive my diploma?
Three to four months after the graduation ceremony has passed and you have been confirmed as having completed all of your degree requirements by the Office of Graduation Audit, graduates will receive an email from a company by the name of Parchment to their preferred email address indicated on CUNYfirst informing them that their digital diploma is available for download. Approximately 3-4 weeks after receiving that email, your physical paper diploma will be mailed to the home address on file for you in CUNYfirst.

I am a graduate of QCC but, I have not received my diploma yet and need proof of graduation. What can I do?
If you need proof of graduation, you can request your official transcript, download your unofficial transcript from CUNYFirst, or download your enrollment verification letter from CUNYFirst. Each of these documents will indicate your degree earned, degree conferral date, GPA, and program of study.
