I have a long-standing interest in cardiometabolic and vascular diseases relevant to public health, for example obesity and type-2 diabetes. Published studies identified that a number of proteins are altered in such diseases, although the roles and regulations of many such proteins are unknown. The goal of my research is to elucidate functions of such proteins with a hope to find novel therapeutic targets for these diseases. A list of my research publications can be found in this link.

As a mentor for undergraduate students, I intend to integrate research with classroom teaching. I plan to train students in basic biology and biotechnology, involving experiential learning and hands-on training in the recent techniques relevant to biomedical science. Prior to joining QCC, I mentored several undergraduate students in Florida Atlantic University and University of Kentucky, and many are pursuing careers in medicine, public health, forensic biology and biomedical science.
