Course Description in college catalog:
Second part of a two-semester introduction to physics with applications to biology, primarily for students majoring in biology or planning careers in optometry, dentistry, and other medically related fields. Topics include electromagnetism, optics, acoustics, and radiation phenomena. Strong algebra skills and knowledge of the ideas of calculus are required.

Use algebra, geometry and trigonometry to describe physical situations and to solve physical problems.
Describe and analyze physical situations using graphical representations.
Define and identify physical quantities (such as electric field) and the basic, SI units.
Set up and solve problems involving simple harmonic motion.
Analyze and determine real world applications of sound phenomena including interference, sound speed, beats, Doppler effect, and shock waves.
State the law of conservation of electric charge and use it to solve problems.
Set up and solve problems using the following concepts and their application. Electric Field, Electric Force, Electric Potential, Electric Potential Energy and Capacitance.
Set up and solve problems involving series and parallel DC and AC circuits using Ohm’s Law.
Solve complex circuits using Kirchhoff’s rules.
Solve problems involving magnetic field and force.
State Faraday’s law of induction and use it to solve problems.
Define reflection, refraction, diffraction and interference and describe the rules governing each.
Solve problems involving geometric and physical optics.
Perform experiments and draw meaningful conclusions from data and present them as part of a clear, well-organized lab report.
