Steering Committee March 2025

The Steering Committee wishes to thank our colleagues on the Committee on Committees for managing the process of filling upcoming vacancies in Standing Committees of the Academic Senate. The rollout has been very transparent and we thank them for taking on this time-intensive task. Results of updates to Standing Committee rosters will be shared with the Academic Senate during its April 8 meeting.

On March 1, the Committee on Committees sent an email to QCC faculty fielding interest in running for Senator-at-Large positions. There will be a total of 14 vacancies in the Senate for AY 2025-26. The email sent to all full-time faculty contains all the information needed in order to run, including directions for gathering the required 7 e-signatures from colleagues as per the Senate Bylaws. Current senators, please check the Senate Roster to be sure whether your term continues after this academic year. While we encourage current senators to consider running for another term, we also encourage our colleagues to please spread the word within your Departments and to please support faculty members who have not yet served to run as well. The deadline for gathering signatures for Senate nomination is March 11.

The Steering Committee will be holding two Zoom meetings for Academic Senate Standing Committee Chairs on April 2 and April 9 @ 12 - 1pm. These meetings will focus on providing guidance to committee chairs in the timely completion of Annual Reports. As a reminder, this academic year Standing Committee annual reports will be due by May 29, the day of QCC’s Commencement Ceremony. Posting these valuable reports by the end of the Spring semester will ensure that the Steering Committee will have ample time to prepare Steering Committee charges and additional guidance to incoming Standing Committee members for the following fall semester.
