Steering Committee February 2025
The Steering Committee would like to welcome Senators and members of our QCC community to the first Academic Senate meeting of the Spring 2025 semester.
We would like to list several important elections that will take place during the Spring 2025 semester. An email will be sent to eligible faculty by the Steering Committee regarding At-Large membership nominations, and all directions and guidelines concerning the nomination/election process will be outlined in that email. We hope you will consider running for a 3-year term, as this service is very important to the ongoing functions of shared governance at QCC. Senators whose 3-year terms are expiring at the end of this semester will need to run again if they wish to remain as Senators At-Large. Additionally, we will hold elections within a meeting of the Academic Senate for Steering Committee, Faculty Executive Committee, and Committee on Committees. Please contact the Steering Committee for questions relating to these elections.
Many of you may have already received emails stating your eligibility to serve on a Standing Committee of the Academic Senate. Directions and guidelines for stating your committee preferences are contained in that email as well. We encourage you to please consider serving, as these committees perform valuable work within our campus community. The Steering Committee wishes to thank the Committee on Committees for their work in managing Standing Committee appointments.
For current Standing Committee chairpersons, please be aware that Annual Reports will be due (published on your websites) by the date of the June 2025 graduation ceremony. Submission of annual reports is of vital importance to each Standing Committee as well as an important communication to the Academic Senate. Completion of this task by the end of the Spring 2025 semester ensures that new committee members for the Fall 2025 semester are apprised of committee activities.
