The Academic Senate Committee on Student Activities met on December 11, 2018 at 1pm in L418


Committee Members in Attendance:

  • Stephen Atkins
  • Jennifer Klein
  • Kimberly Riegel
  • Celia Sporer

Liaisons in Attendance:

  • Ray Volel
  • VP Brian Kerr.

Absent:

  • Danny Sexton
  • Kerri-Ann Smith (on leave)


Business:

The meeting was called to order at 1:07

  1. Approval of the minutes of the December 11, 2018 by voice vote.
  2. Approval of the agenda for February 13, 2019 by voice vote.

Old Business

  • Update on Marketing/Communication with Students:
    • Chair Kimberly Rigel handed out a worksheet from VP Di Dio that can Streamline the workflow
    • Discussed that many people don’t submit the correct information on their paperwork, which then slows down the process
    • Clubs are the worst to promote due to time sensitive situations
    • Discussion about possibly issues with the Website calendar of events and what is posted and who does it!
  • Goals for next semester
  1. Chair Kimberly Riegel handed out the Senate Standing Committee Activities Form
  2. Went over Bylaws Charge and what goals are for the committee
  3. Call Victor Fichera for Student Survey results, work on updating the committee guide, and continue to keep lines of communication open between Student activities and the student activities committee
  4. Work on communication among students, faculty, and staff

New Business:

  • VP Kerr discussed food insecurity committee meeting on 12/12, mentioned that food pantry being utilized more in the SUL
  • VP Kerr wanted some ideas on how to spread the word out about middle states and the importance of it!
  • Something the committee can work on together and pass the word on about the importance of middle states
  • Making information for students, faculty and staff friendly and easily understandable
  • Explaining the goals and importance of  middle states
  • Getting marketing involved between February and March 2019
  • Middle States signage
