The Academic Senate Committee on Committee on Course & Standings met on Friday, June 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Room # A-104

Business:

The meeting was called to order at June 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m

The Committee split into groups to review late/retro-active withdrawals and academically dismissed students to be considered for continued probation.

Neera Mohess explained the IR breakdown chart recommendations; went over the seven groups listed; reasoning; criteria for continuing students. The Committee agreed on algorithm formula for IR breakdown chart. Discussed holds on students CUNYFirst and how it may affect them from not withdrawing in time.

Options for students after they have been academically dismissed were discussed.

  • Appeal dismissal/WU’s
  • Bring grades up in Summer Session

The Committee agreed a support system should be advised but it is not a requirement. Students should seek Academic Success if they are on continued probation. 

The Committee went over the student groups from the IR recommendation.  Looked at some student’s case by case.  Total reviewed 1047; Dismissed 431; Kept 616.

The Committee agreed next meeting will be held in September with date pending.  Daniel Armstrong; Fei ye; Gina Capozzoli; Kathleen Wentrack will continue to review appeals before September meeting case by case.
