The Academic Senate Committee on Committee on Admissions met on 7/18/2024, 12pm, Virtually


Committee Members in Attendance:

Mr. Andre Combs – Academy Advisement

Dr. Sarbani Ghoshal - Biological Sciences & Geology

Kristen Hoffman - English Department (Secretary)

Aine O'Rourke Lobato- Admissions/Recruitment 

Dr. Jannette Urciuoli – Counseling Center (Chair)

Dr. Sujun Wei – Chemistry Department

Jankee Guzman – Office of Admissions


Business:

The meeting was called to order at 12:00pm

  1. Minutes from 5/15/24 meeting were approved unanimously prior to this meeting, over email.
  2. The meeting was called to order at 12:00pm via Zoom (Hybrid).
  3. The new spreadsheet for voting was used. It was generally found to be useful for all members.
  4. Jannetre requested feedback regarding the number of grad audits, wondering if there is anything as a committee we can do. No one had thoughts or suggestions at this time. 
  5. Jannette wants to determine the steps that are taken after a student is reinstated with regard to the dismissal policy. She inquired about the 6 credit limit and 2.0 GPA requirement. Aine offered to email the Registrar and report back to the committee. Registrar responded during the meeting that students can take 12 credits following the successful completion of the 6-credit probation semester. Students would be required to remain in good academic standing. 
  6. Committee members discussed decisions for the day’s applications.
  7. Members made plans to meet in early September in-person. Kristen will send out a scheduling poll.

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 1:06 PM. Committee members worked for 3.5 hours reviewing applications asynchronously and 66 minutes to discuss applications as a group.
