The Academic Senate Committee on Committee on Admissions met on 12/16/24, 1:00pm, In-Person


Committee Members in Attendance:

Mr. Andre Combs – Academy Advisement

Dr. Sarbani Ghoshal - Biological Sciences & Geology

Kristen Hoffman - English Department (Secretary)

Aine O'Rourke Lobato- Admissions/Recruitment 

Dr. Jannette Urciuoli – Counseling Center (Chair)

Dr. Sujun Wei – Chemistry Department


Liaisons in Attendance:

Jankee Guzman – Office of Admissions


Business:

The meeting was called to order at 1:00pm

  1. Minutes from 11/19/24 meeting were approved unanimously prior to this meeting, over email.
  2. The meeting was called to order at 1:00pm.
  3. Nishat fixed all website issues. She should be point-person moving forward.
  4. Elpha corrected admissions website.
  5. Kristen will create a short tutorial for members to correctly access GPA calculator doc so votes are shared in real time.
  6. One student’s application is on hold pending more information from Jankee regarding previous readmission communication. 
  7. Applications for readmission were reviewed.
  8. Kristen will email the committee a scheduling poll when Jankee has applications for the committee to review. 
  9. Potential for a January meeting is low. It would need to happen in the first two weeks of January to allow for advising and registration. If there are fewer than 7 applications, the Chair will review the applications. Members agreed to meet via Zoom if necessary.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:38 PM. Committee members worked for 1 hour reviewing applications asynchronously and 38 minutes to discuss applications as a group.
