The Academic Senate Committee on Academic Development/Elective Academic Programs met on February 13, 2024 at 12:00PM - Zoom


Committee Members in Attendance:

Present: Deborah Karlin (2026, Vice-Chair), Jennifer Klein (2024), Kevin Kolack (2025, Secretary), Danny Mangra (2025) - NO QUORUM - INFORMATIONAL MEETING ONLY

Not present: Arthur Abramov (2025), Rezan Akpinar- teaching (2026, Chair), Lyubomir Boyadzhiev (2024), Carlene Byfield (2024), Melissa Dennihy- on sabbatical (2026)


Liaisons in Attendance:

Present: Michael Pullin (President's designee)

Not present: need new Steering Committee designee

 


Business:

The meeting was called to order at 12:25PM

  1. Attendance
  2. Review Committee Meeting Minutes November 8th, 2023- reviewed, but need to be approved next time
  3. Student / Faculty Survey on Student Evaluation Forms.- no update; table subcommittee formation as well
  4. AI Workshop / Faculty Workshop for Student Evaluation Forms. 
    AI workshop last week 2/9 was well attended; recording to be posted on CETL site 
    Provost sent out message announcing the ACUE AI course available to all faculty 
          Shorter than their full courses 
  5. Old business 
    Adam Volin said he’d be happy to update the committee on their plans for this semester; Klein will reach out and ask if he’ll come to the 3/12 meeting 
  6. New business 
    Brightspace is coming; MANY PD opportunities available; Denis Bejar is the point person; has recruited “faculty champions” from each department; staff need for champions/training not as obvious, but for example, First Year Seminar instructors and TigerAdvisors will need training; eSPARC and Wellness Wednesdays are also Blackboard-based and will have to migrate; Kolack asked OET if training email from 2/8 could be sent to staff as well
    Next meeting 3/12, hybrid if possible; make effort to move back in person
