The Academic Senate Committee on Academic Development/Elective Academic Programs met on April 27, 2023 at 11:00AM - Virtual via Zoom
Committee Members in Attendance:
Present: Rezan Akpinar (2023, Chair), Carlene Byfield (2024), Melissa Dennihy (Vice-Chair 2023), Kevin Kolack (Secretary, 2025), Danny Mangra (2025)
Not present: Arthur Abramov (2025), Lyubomir Boyadzhiev (2024), Rondi Davies (2023), Jennifer Klein (2024)
Liaisons in Attendance:
Not present: Michael Pullin (President's designee), Mark Ulrich (Steering Committee designee)
Business:
The meeting was called to order at 11:10AM
- Attendance
- Minutes from March meeting were approved without changes
- Update on student and faculty surveys
110 faculty; 78 students so far. Wanted to present to Senate in May- can provide tentative info, but not on the agenda. - Discussion on developing of a evaluation form for asynchronous classes.
Akpinar raised issue at April Senate that current form doesn’t apply. Will develop in Fall 2023 in conjunction with the eLearning Committee (Tony Monahan, Chair). - Workshops
AI workshop just didn’t come together. Klein and Kolack had volunteered. Byfield had 2 nursing dept volunteers, but they didn’t reach out to Dennihy. Will try for Fall. - Old business
Students are still not taking part in the end-of-semester evaluations of faculty.
Ideas: Reach out to Marketing about having QR code posted on campus to access evaluations. Have faculty take class to computer center to fill out. - New business
Welcome message sent to new member (Deborah Karlin) by Akpinar to invite to May meeting.
