John C. Mondal was born in Bangladesh. After moving to the United States, he spent most of his childhood traveling throughout different states until finally settling down in New York. He now is a proud resident of the Bronx. Before coming to QCC he attended LaGuardia Community College for a short period of time. He was introduced to QCC through a good friend and it has been a great journey in terms of academic and personal growth ever since. He connected with the culture of QCC and felt empowered to succeed - a mindset that pushed him to accomplish what he did. John majored in Business Administration. The Office of Career Services was instrumental in his professional journey and aided him in finding internship and career opportunities as well as developing his résumé. He was also introduced to Ms. Sandra Strauss who helped him fine tune his accomplishments and took a real interest in his visions and goals, taking the time to ask him about his future career plans. Ms. Strauss also introduced him to Virtual Job Shadow, a tool used to help students with career exploration by using quick, engaging videos. Her guidance and knowledge are what really helped John to recognize and understand his own interests and dreams. This led John to run for office in the Student Government and eventually he went on to become Student Government President. As President John set out to bring about change and create legacies. He hosted numerous quality on and off campus events, restructuring the process for the SGA agenda and minutes which are created and filed, and finally revising the Student Government Constitution as well as making the Queensborough SGA more unified CUNY wide. Since then John has taken part in fellowships, stock market and real estate investments, and is continuing his studies at Baruch where he wants to pursue a leadership position in business.
