Dr. Sheena Gillespie was former Chair of the English Department and former Chair of the Faculty Executive Committee (Retired) at Queensborough Community College, and Planned Giving Liaison for the Queensborough Community College Fund, Inc.
Dr. Gillespie has 40 years of outstanding and dedicated service to Queensborough Community College. She has not only been an academic leader at the college as Chair of the English Department and the Faculty Executive Committee, but also as a generous donor to the QCC Fund, Inc. Her unwavering support for scholarships and other programs that support student success has led her to be named the Planned Giving Liaison for the QCC Fund, Inc. Dr. Gillespie has established the Dr. Sheena Gillespie Literary Award Endowment at QCC to recognize meritorious achievement in writing literary papers or analyses and/or literary accomplishments. Dr. Gillespie’s partner, Dr. Linda Stanley, established the Dr. Linda C. Stanley Award Endowment for the Writing of Non-Fiction at Queensborough Community College.
Dr. Gillespie holds a B.A. degree in English from Barrington College, an M.A. degree in English from the University of Rhode Island, and a Ph.D. degree in Comparative Literature from New York University.
In 201, Queensborough honored Dr. Gillespie as “Academic Partner of the Year” at its annual Partners for Progress Gala.
Dr. Gillespie was elected to the QCC Fund Board of Directors in 2011 and previously served as an ex-officio Board member as Chair of the Faculty Executive Committee. Dr. Gillespie was elected to the Board’s Council of Advisors in 2015.
