New AWS Training at Queensborough
The Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Development at Queensborough Community College will offer free online Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certification training to help participants enhance skills and prepare for two highly sought-after certifications in the Cloud computing field today.
The AWS Developer Associate Certification (+ AWS Big Data + Machine Learning Specializations) course will run from March 16 through May 4, while the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate Certification course will run from May 11 through June 29. Both programs are instructor-led and delivered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-4 pm, but students are not bound by specific class times because all sessions will be recorded and can be accessed asynchronously.
“AWS is the fastest pace of innovation!” said Dr. Hui-Yin Hsu, Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development at QCC. “The impact of cloud computing has morphed from an intriguing technological option to an essential element of digital transformation. Students will learn to develop strategies for optimizing containers and serverless computing, the two emerging trends that will exert a major impact on cloud computing. Our students will be leading the future workforce.”
AWS is a global leader in Cloud computing, and individuals who obtain its Certifications are increasingly in demand.
“Industry experts, including LinkedIn, and Forbes and CIO magazines, tell us that Cloud is one of the top skills that any business or technology professional can have today,” said Michael Lawrence, Queensborough Engineering Technology specialist and lecturer. “And, in line with those trends, QCC is pleased to offer AWS training at no charge.”
There will be virtual information sessions for the programs on March 3 and March 10 from
12:00 pm -1:00 pm. To register for the training courses, prospective students can visit: https://tinyurl.com/3f5o3js7
While students do not have to have prior experience to take part in the AWS Certification training, they should have an interest in learning about Cloud computing and cybersecurity. Preferred computer requirements include a PC or Mac 8GB Ram; Intel i3 Processor; 100GB hard drive; and high-speed Internet.
The AWS Certified Developer Associate examination is intended for individuals who perform a development role and have one or more years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining an AWS-based application. The workshop also will provide students with a review of the AWS Cloud Computing Fundamentals and AWS Solutions Architect Preparation Certifications’ content and the AWS Big Data + Machine Learning Specializations.
The AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate Certification examination is intended for systems administrators in a systems operations role with at least one year of experience in deployment, management, and operations on AWS. The course will provide students with a review of the AWS Cloud Computing Fundamentals and AWS Solutions Architect Preparation Certifications’ content.
Queensborough/CUNY have developed these training programs with funding provided by a grant under the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act, administered by the New York State Education Department.
