BAYSIDE -- Queensborough Community College is the highest ranked community college in New York City and New York State and is considered to be among the best community colleges in the country, according a report released by WalletHub.com that compares more than 650 community colleges across 18 key indicators of quality and affordability.

Placing first locally and 28th in the nation, the 2-year Bayside college is one of the most diverse colleges in America and has a national reputation for the upward mobility of its graduates. When looking at career outcomes, Wallethub found Queensborough students' median salary, after attending, among the highest in the country.

“These independent findings confirm the success of Queensborough students, our education values and the overall quality of Queensborough's faculty and courses,” said college president, Dr. Christine Mangino.

It is the fourth year in a row Queensborough has been listed as a top institution of higher learning by WalletHub for its Education Outcomes, Career Outcomes, and Cost & Financing. It is among the nation's top 5% of community colleges.

“Student success and equity informs our thinking every day at Queensborough. We are thrilled with these results and are so happy to be here for students from all backgrounds and all experiences,” Dr. Mangino added.

The Washington DC-based personal finance website reports that community colleges are especially attractive this year to families struggling with their finances during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Students who initially planned on attending a private four-year college might want to consider spending two years at a community college and transferring those credits once the economy picks up again,” said WalletHub analyst, Jill Gonzalez.

With generous financial aid available, about 90% of Queensborough students complete their courses without having federal loan student debt. The college's fee per credit is as little as $210, compared to other college's undergraduate fees that can be as much as seven times higher in New York City. “Queensborough also provides special learning opportunities, such as accelerated programs, work-study programs, and distance learning, as well as credit for life experiences that include community work, volunteering or participation in a nonprofit organization. The college ranked high in terms of the average amount of grant or scholarship aid received, and [earned] points for having employment services for students,” Gonzalez added.

The college offers more than 40 degrees; virtually all classes this fall are exclusively online.

Highly regarded for its accredited Nursing and Psychology programs; Engineering Science; and Art Education that places it in the same class as Cooper Union, Pratt and FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology), Queensborough provides excellent academic and career-based advantages.

“One of the best aspects of completing your degree at Queensborough is that it opens doors to the most prestigious universities and colleges in the country,” noted Queensborough Vice President & Chief Marketing & Communication Officer, Stephen Di Dio.

Accreditors have also commended Queensborough for its genuine care for student success, small college feel, and the quality of its student support services. Because Queensborough is part of City University of New York, a quality education is guaranteed.
