Queensborough Celebrates Native American Heritage Month 2025

This month, we’re proud to celebrate Native American Heritage Month and honor those in our community who identify as Native American, Indigenous American, or Alaska Native. It is a time to recognize the many contributions of Native American communities and the diverse traditions and perspectives that continue to enrich our shared story.

In New York State, there are nine federally or state-recognized Tribal Nations,* along with several other tribal communities that have long and meaningful ties to this land. We also recognize that our campus is built on land originally belonging to Native American peoples. We’re thankful for their deep and continuing connection to this land and the reminder it gives us to care for our environment and each other. As we continue to build a welcoming and inclusive community, may we listen to and lift Indigenous voices, learning from their traditions, values, and stewardship of the earth.
