Course Description in college catalog:

The course offers group instruction in piano for both the music major and the community. It combines two levels of study: MUS 231 and MUS 232. The class is intended for students who have taken a course like MUS 231 or have prior experience. It may not be applied to the liberal arts and sciences core for the A.A. or A.S. degree.

Prepare students who wish to transfer to a four-year institution of higher learning to pursue a career in music by providing a solid foundation in the areas of musicianship and performance.

Methods by which student learning will be assessed and evaluated; describe the types of methods to be employed; note whether certain methods are required for all sections:

1. Class participation and assignments: 30% (you will be graded 2 times on prepared (playing) homework assignments (each assignment is 15% of your grade). Make sure to come to class ready to play assigned pieces and exercises.

2. Exams: 70% (3 tests 45% (15% each); final recital 25%). Final recital will take place during the finals week. Exact day and time will be determined by the Registrar.
