"Oil, Credit, And the Shifting Balance of Power"
Edmund Clingan was born and raised in New York City and received his B.A. in History from Queens College and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the direction of Professor Theodore Hamerow. In 1988-89, he studied at the University of Bonn as a Fulbright Scholar. From 1995 to 2004, he taught at the University of North Dakota, where he was promoted and tenured. His published articles include "More Construction, More Crisis: The Housing Problem of Weimar Germany," "The Budget Debate of 1926: a Case Study in Weimar Democracy," and "Breaking the Balance: The Debate over Emergency Unemployment Aid in Weimar Germany, 1925-1926."He has taught at Queensborough since 2004. His courses include Ancient Civilizations, Medieval and Early Modern Europe, Modern Western Civilization, Modern Economic History, Modern Germany, and World History from 1870 to 1945.
He has traveled extensively in Ireland, Britain, France, Spain, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Greece, Russia, Estonia, Finland, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Turkey.
Dr. Clingan won the Award for Excellence in Faculty Scholarship in 2014.
