The Committee on Admissions shall consist of six (6) members of the instructional staff and three (3) student members who shall participate and vote only on matters of policy.

The Committee on Admissions shall:

  1. Formulate and recommend to the Academic Senate matriculation standards governing entrance of students to the various curricula and programs at Queensborough Community College.
  2. Formulate and recommend to the Academic Senate matriculation standards governing re-entrance of students to the various curricula and programs at Queensborough Community College.
  3. Consider appeals for matriculation and make decisions in accordance with Board of Trustees policies.

According to the Committee Minutes posted on this website, the following issues were discussed:

  • The committee considered changing the committee name but after discussing it with the Bylaws Committee, the Admissions Committee members decided to keep the name.
  • Applications have still not reached pre-pandemic numbers
  • Refer to minutes from 2/25 for other topics the committee reviewed.
  • In May of20 22, committee members began to review applications asynchronously and used a spreadsheet to provide feedback.

Regarding appeals, the committee reviewed 130 applications for readmissions: 

59 were reviewed (47 approved and 12 denied) for the Spring 2022 semester.

71 were reviewed (58 approved for 13 denied) for the Fall 2022 semester.
