In Honor of Veterans Day

The Office of Military and Veterans Services invites you to join us November 10-12 in support and recognition of our military service members.

Wednesday, November 9, 2016

Remembrance and Reflection Ceremony

The ceremony will be held to honor our military members past and present. We invite the Queensborough community to join us.

Location: The Charles F. Bova Veterans Memorial Grove, located inside the main campus gate on 56th Avenue

Schedule:

  • 9:30-9:35am: Welcome and salutation by Alexandra McDonald, Director of Military and Veterans Services.

  • 9:35-9:45am: Presentation of colors.

  • 9:45-9:55am: Why Veterans Day? (See "History of Veterans Day"») Presented by a member of the Student Veterans Association.

  • 9:55-10am: Closing.

Military Cultural Competency Training

Location: The Kupferberg Holocaust Resource Center Classroom

Schedule:

  • 3:00pm: Military Cultural Competency Training facilitated by Dr. Yvette Branson, Veteran Integration to Academic Leadership (VITAL) Initiative Coordinator from the VA New York Harbor

Veterans Day Dinner (Open only to veterans and Active Service Members)

Queensborough Community College salutes our veterans and active service members with a special recognition dinner.

Veterans and active service members should RSVP to amcdonald@qcc.cuny.edu or call 718-281-5767 no later than Sunday, October 30, 2016.

Location: Student Union Building.

Time: 5:30pm - 8:30pm.

Veterans Day Parade - America’s Parade»

We invite the Queensborough community to attend the Veterans Day Parade in Manhattan. Current Student-Veterans will be participating in the event.

Location: The parade route is on 5th Avenue, from 26th to 56th Street in Manhattan.

Time: 11:00am – 4:00pm.
