The Academic Senate Committee on eLearning met on May 12, 2022 at 3:13 PM via Zoom (Online)

Business:

The meeting was called to order at 3:20 PM

1. Approve previous meeting minutes

Minutes approved by unanimous vote

2. Meeting agenda

   1). Missing minutes from March and February, 2022

   2) Updates on Spring eLearning newsletter

a) Anthony has uploaded his article and Punita will work with Nishat to upload

 

3. Spring Workshops

a) Fei Ye updated the committee on the workshop he presented on customizing OER books on LibreTexts. He said that the workshop went well, and he also shared slides. Susan confirmed that the workshop was great and it was an interested tool

b) Susan and Randelle updated the committee on their workshop (eLearning tools to help the transition back to campus). Susan presented on google, paradeck, how to use blackboard to deliver those tools to the students and people seemed receptive

c)  Randelle agreed to write about Fei’s workshop and Fei agreed to write about Randelle’s workshop. Punita asked if these writeups can be included in the Spring semester’s newsletter.

 

4. HyFlex 

a) Umberto stated that he received survey results and asked Susan to share the results with the group.

 

5. Suggested goals from the Academic Senate Steering Committee

  • Goal 2: eLearning Committee will provide guideline guidelines, standards, and best practices in online instruction to the College. – Task for fall 2022.
  • Goal 4: Provide standards for assessment of the quality of online course instructional designs, reviewing and revising these standards as needed.

     Denis will bring these up to academic affair.


6. New Business

Fall 2022 eLearning newletter:
  1. Susan shared that she is supposed to be teaching a Hyflex class next semester and is offering to write about it for the Fall newsletter.
  2.  Anthony asked the committee to use the summer to come up with ideas for the newsletter.


7. Adjournment

Meeting was adjourned at 3:45 PM. Next meeting: TBA via Zoom
