Israel Rocha, Jr. was named the Chief Executive Officer of NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst in July of 2016.  He brings to the position a wealth of experience regarding improving health-care delivery, enhancing the patient experience, and successfully leveraging state and federal resources to manage a large healthcare institution.  He is also passionately committed to building stronger ties between Elmhurst and the diverse communities that the hospital serves.

Prior to assuming his position at Elmhurst, Mr. Rocha was CEO of Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Health System (DHR), a 513 licensed bed general acute care facility with over 1,200 nurses, 700+ physicians, and a regional economic impact of over $1 Billion.  During his tenure, he led his team to secure over $160 million in funding from CMS and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission through the DSRIP program.  He also led key initiatives that helped Doctors Hospital at Renaissance transition from a general acute care hospital into a comprehensive medical and teaching center comprised of a robust acute care services division, an expanded ambulatory care division, a community health division, a research division and a graduate medical education division.

Before he began his career in healthcare, Mr. Rocha worked 10 years at the U.S. House of Representatives.  During this time, he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff/Legislative Director to Congressman Ruben Hinojosa (TX-15) and Executive Director of the Congressional Rural Housing Caucus.
