Peter Bales, Ph.D.
Professor Peter Bales received his B.S. from Northwestern University, M.A. from Long Island University, and Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Prior to his position at Queensborough, he taught at Nassau Community College, C.W. Post College, and the State University of New York at Farmingdale. His research interests include 20th century U.S. diplomatic history and United States – Latin American relations. Currently, Dr. Bales is working in the realm of U.S. political history, and writing a book focusing on the unsuccessful presidential candidates of the 1920s.
Bales has published a humorous take on United States history, which evolved into two books: How Come They Always Had Battles in the National Parks? and Who Cares, They're All Dead Anyway.
Both books were then combined into a comprehensive tongue-in-cheek chronicle of the American saga entitled, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the 21st Century. The factual yet irreverent survey of American History from the beginning through the modern era has been popular with students and comedy fans of all ages.
Bales's first novel, Long Live Long Island, was released in 2013. Set in 1981 on Long Island's Gold Coast, it's a political thriller with outrageous characters, real action, lots of laughs and, you never know, it could happen…
He also has performed stand-up comedy for over thirty years, and appeared at countless comedy clubs, corporate functions, and colleges across the country and appeared on a variety of networks including Comedy Central, Lifetime, FOX, A&E, VH1, MTV, and SiriusXM.
