The Office of Career Services: Internships and Cooperative Education at Queensborough Community College

An Internship Helped Me!

Internship Maria

An Internship opportunity offers you experience related to your career goal and is an excellent way to apply what you are learning in the classroom.  It bridges the gap between the professional work place and the classroom.  It enables you to decide if you really want to pursue a particular occupation or work in a particular industry and setting.

You gain an edge in many ways.  Finding an internship is just like finding a job, so, you actually develop the skills to search for a job for when that time comes.  You will also develop skills and relevant work experience, which employers are seeking.  Statistics for the past several years indicate that employers actually prefer to hire from their intern pool.
