The Mathematics Learning Center (MLC) is a tutoring facility accessible to all students. It is open year round and provides assistance for all mathematics and computer science courses, from the developmental to the advanced level. Highly qualified tutors are trained to work with students on a one-to-one basis and in small-group workshops. MLC offers reference materials, current textbooks, and review sheets of course material. It provides review sessions for final examinations and various workshops to help students exit from remediationMLC also provides training for the graphing calculators that are required for many of the courses. A schedule of open hours is posted outside the MLC located in the Science building room 216.

Mission Statement

In accordance with the Mission of the College to provide open-admission access for all learners along with support services to provide students with the maximum opportunity to succeed, the Mathematics Learning Center is committed to providing high quality mathematics one–to–one tutoring, small group learning and workshops for all QCC students registered in a math course.  Innovative pedagogical techniques, including educational technology are employed.  In order to insure the highest quality of service to students, the Mathematics Learning Center engages in on-going assessment using CUNY-wide and college-specific indicators.

Goals

  • Provide high quality support services to QCC students taking a mathematics course

  • Offer workshops and review sessions to improve students’ academic readiness for college

  • Use best practices in providing professional development and training to staff

Tutoring and all workshops are available on a walk in basis.
