Opening - The second meeting of fall 2023 CUNY/Queensborough Community College Committee on Computer Resources was called to order on time on 12:32 PM October 23, 2023.

Business:

  1. Approve previous meeting minutes

        September 27, 2023 meeting minutes was approved by unanimous vote.

 

  1. Updating the committee “guided addendum”
  • Ron will write a new addendum draft and upload it to the committee shared folder on Google drive.
  • Committee members will contribute by editing the file.

 

  1. Last year’s annual report
  • Ron will write a draft and upload it to the committee shared folder on Google drive.
  • Committee members will contribute by editing the file.

 

  1. Current member listing and updating committee’s homepage

  1. Committee Newsletter
  • Committee members all agree to publish the newsletter in early spring 2024
  • Articles that will be included in newsletter:
  1. Nursing simulation resources– Michelle and Lauren
  2. Article about AI – Larisa Honey (Article is done)
  3. A Q and A interview with Ted Dec (Chief Information Officer/QCC)

  1. Future possible collaboration with E-learning committee
  • Jonggu has communicated with the E-learning committee and written a meeting report. He has been invited to attend the e-learning committee meeting on Nov. 8 2023.
  • Committee members agreed that Jonggu will share our articles for the next newsletter with the e-learning committee. There might be possibilities that two committees can collaborate on AI and D2L Brightspace topics.

 

  1. Blackboard to Brightspace
  • Larisa has communicated with OET and reported back that Denis Bejar is still training for the Blackboard-to-Brightspace transition. Denis can attend our future meeting to shed more light on this matter.
  • Committee members will try to attend Brightspace introduction webinars and collect opinions/questions that QCC faculty members have regarding this new LMS. Committee will bring these questions to Denis in future.

 

  1. Other tasks
  • Discuss how to link Larisa’s article to the coming newsletter page
  • Locate the newsletter template that has been used before
