Music Theory is a course on musical notation, form, rhythm, pitch, harmony. Students will discuss music literacy, and analyze performed music through audio/video resources, writings, and articles.

Fern Smith

Fern R Smith, a member of the faculty of QCC Continuing Education Department, provides instruction and leadership that continues to raise the level of expectations for learning to play the  guitar, especially for group guitar. By bridging the gap between playing simple chords to laying standard music literature, Ms. Smith has inspired a new breed of musicians

Smith - is a classical guitarist. She is a lifelong learner and instructor of the guitar. She studied with Dr. Rene Gonzalez, now retired, head of the Classical Guitar Program at the University of Miami, Florida. Dr. Gonzalez was the protege of Juan Mecadal.

Smith is a graduate of Laguardia Fiorelli High School of the Performing Arts. She also attended the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.
