Why do I need to
complete Test 1?
You must successfully pass Test 1 before applying for
a password for the QCC OnLine Learning Network to
insure that your computer system and Internet
connection are compatible with the QCC web site. Your
course instructor will use a range of
"forms" to structure the interaction within
your course. Students must use 'copy and paste' to
transfer text from a word processor screen to an
online course form. Using this method of submitting
forms to a web site requires that you are familiar
with copy and paste commands plus know how to switch
between open applications on your computer system.
Instructions for completing Test 1: Create an
assignment using Copy and Paste:
1) Students should use a document with at least Five
FULL pages of TEXT for this test. You need to
confirm that your Internet connection will
"process" such a written submission. We are
not expecting you to write a 5 page essay just for
this test. Instead, use a document you may already
have on your computer or quickly create one in your
word processor by copying a paragraph or short
document several times to create the required length.
2) You must use copy and paste commands to transfer
text from your word processor to the online assignment
form. Typing directly into the online form does not
accomplish the requirements of the test. You are
testing your computer system and Internet
connectivity. Failure to follow the instructions
correctly may result in difficulties later.
3) The word processed document should contain plain
text and text with apostrophes and quotation marks.
Using this type of document will help you determine
whether the smart quotes or trues quotes settings need
to be changed within your word processor.
4) This is a public site so your test document should
not contain any personal information such as address,
phone number, or SS#. Please follow the directions on
the confirmation screen you receive after the
submission to verify the completion of the test.

6) Now click on the Test 1 link below to open the
assignment test form.

Assignment Form - Create assignment using copy and
paste. To identify your
assignment test, enter your first initial and the
first 4 letters of your last name (e.g., RJONE) in
this box:
Place the cursor inside the
box below and paste the text from your word
processed document into the box. Once you see the
text of your document, scroll down and click the
Submit Assignment button located below the box.
Click the Submit Assignment
button below only once and wait for the confirmation
of your submission. Please follow the directions on
the confirmation screen to return to the Test Your
System page. Then open and view your Test 1
assignment to verify that all your text transmitted.
