Lambda Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa

Our Purpose:

Students in Phi Theta Kappa uphold the Phi Theta Kappa Hallmarks of Scholarship, Leadership, Fellowship, and Service. The following is a Statement of Purpose and blurb available on the Blackboard website of the Lambda Sigma Chapter.

Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honor Society of Two-Year Community Colleges. Queensborough is the Lambda Sigma Chapter of this prestigious Honor Society and our objective is to recognize the academic achievement of our Members and provide them with opportunities to grow as Scholars and Leaders. One opportunity Honor Society Members have is the ability to apply for prestigious Academic Scholarships while enrolled at Queensborough Community College, as well as, at the Baccalaureate level. Phi Theta Kappa Members can use PTK Connect to search Four-Year Colleges and Universities that are transfer-friendly and see the Scholarships they offer Community College students, including those exclusively for Phi Theta Kappa Members. For additional information about the benefits of becoming a Phi Theta Kappa Member, feel free to visit the Phi Theta Kappa website at www.ptk.org/about/why-join/.

The Queensborough Community College Lambda Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa also functions as an Official Student Club/Organization on the Queensborough Community College Campus. Every semester we conduct a Chapter-Service Activity. In prior years, we have organized a Food Drive to benefit the QCC Food Pantry, as well as, collected used books for the NYC Books Through Bars Program, which is a non-profit organization that sends free books to incarcerated people across the Country. Our Members also have the opportunitiy to attend and/or participate in Regional/National Phi Theta Kappa-Sponsored Conferences and represent their College Chapter with the opportunity to network with other Phi Theta Kappa Chapters around the Country. Guest Speakers are invited to the Queensborough Community College campus to speak with our Members about opportunities that may be of interest to them.
