STEP Grant

The NSF-funded Queensborough Bridge Grant (AWARD ID: 0652963) involves Queensborough Community College (Paris Svoronos, PI; Melvin Gorelick, Co-PI), Queens College (Thomas Strekas, Co-PI) and Brookhaven National Laboratory.

OBJECTIVES

  • Increase the STEM degree enrollment and graduation at Queensborough Community College
  • Increase the number of students engaged in student-faculty research both in chemistry and biology at Queensborough
  • Increase the student transfer rate and research collaboration with both departments of Chemistry and Biology at Queens College
  • Establish winter and summer research internships at Brookhaven National Laboratory
  • Provide PLTL-like tutorials to Queensborough students
  • Support chemistry and biology professional conference trips and presentations for both students and faculty
