Academic Advising Specialist

**POSITION DETAILS**

Reporting to an Associate Director of Advising, the Academic Advising Specialist will contribute to the development and implementation of a holistic, advising model utilizing caseload management, assessment, advising technology, and campus collaboration within the Academies at Queensborough. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview duties include but are not limited to the following:

-Manage advisory caseload of students leveraging advising technology such as Starfish, CUNYfirst (PeopleSoft) Degree Audit, Degree Planner, and other relevant technology

-Facilitate workshops for students and faculty; assists with other departmental meetings

-Lead and manage team projects and advising initiatives related to the academic advising operation

-Develop academic degree plans and performs graduation audits

-Establish and maintain student advisement files; prepare advisement activity reports

-Lead and/or participate in meetings on retention, student success, and student engagement

-Responsible for conducting assessment reports on Academy student caseloads

-Responsible for participation in ongoing training for academic curriculum and advising best practices

-Deliver a comprehensive advising experience by monitoring student progress, early alerts and working with campus partners to resolve obstacles for students

-Actively promote accessibility and visibility of advising through campus initiatives and online presence. Advising staff is expected to engage students in advising events on campus, through online advising, and social media

-May supervise college assistants and other staff members where applicable.

-May act as point of contact for advisement operations in absence of Academy Lead

Evening and Weekend Hours required as needed

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**

-Experience Working in a Community College Setting

-Experience in Academic Advising

-Familiarity with CUNY First, Degree Works or comparable student systems

-Experience with Student tracking software such as Starfish or Navigate

-Demonstrated Experience Conducting Workshops or Trainings

-Demonstrated Knowledge of Student support services

-Experience Tracking and managing student in a caseload

-Experience working with diverse populations

Queensborough Community College invites applications for the position of Administrative Events Specialist.

Reporting to the Director the Administrative Events Specialist, in addition to the duties listed in the CUNY title Overview, will:

Maintain a database of perspective clients for marketing and promotional purposes

· Field rental inquiries and show spaces to perspective clients

· Collect and maintain accurate records of rental fees, deposits and outstanding balances

· Coordinate proper staffing of events to include security personnel, maintenance, volunteers, and house management as required

· Participate in planning and progress meetings and be responsible for the progression of planning process

· Generate weekly event schedules, and maintain event calendars

**POSITION DETAILS**

Under the direction of the Procurement Director, the Finance Procurement Specialist will execute purchases on behalf of the College from a variety of funding sources in accordance with procurement methods, rules and policies required by the State of New York (STATE), City of New York (CITY) and the City University of New York (CUNY).

Prepare and issue solicitation documents and procurement memoranda related to a variety of methods including Request for Quotations (RFQ); Requests for Proposals (RFP), Requests for Information (RFI) and Invitation to Bid (ITB) as well as sole source single documentation, all in accordance with STATE, CITY and CUNY policies and regulation. Schedule and conduct vendor and bidder conferences and discussions as required.

Effectively negotiate with vendors based on a variety of factors, including legal terms, prices, as well as product and service specification; prepare documentation for CUNY Legal review and approval.

Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality and promptness of delivery of products and services.

Analyze price proposals, finance reports and other research information to establish reasonable prices.

Resolve issues regarding unacceptable, late and damaged goods and or services.

Maintain proper documentation related to GASB review, including OGS agreements, DCAS agreements, GSA agreements, master agreement, RFQs, invoices, and other relevant records.

Keep up with current knowledge and proper understanding of CUNYFirst Lease Administration module

Assist in entering GASB applicable contract in CUNYFirst Lease Administration module.

Collaborate with Accounting office and Accounts Payable office to ensure that requisitions subject to GASB requirements follow the appropriate procurement and payment process.
