The Student Learning Center is just one of several academic support centers on campus. A list of additional learning support centers is below:
Academic Computing Center (ACC) : students and faculty can access software such as Microsoft Office, which includes such programs as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and FrontPage.
Academic Literacy Learning Center (ALLC): a place where college students come together to build up their reading and writing skills with the help of skilled, caring tutors; offers tutoring, computer lab services, workshops and practice tests.
Campus Writing Center: serves as a college-wide resource providing QCC students with tutoring assistance for all English (EN) coursework, as well as any writing-related or WI assignment across the curriculum in addition toACT Writing and CPE Exam preparation.
College Discovery: an educational opportunity program that provides counseling, academic support services, and, in certain cases, financial aid to students who would otherwise be unable to attend college because of economic circumstances.
College Opportunity to Prepare for Employment Program (COPE): provides a broad range of support services to QCC students that are receiving public assistance or who meet specific economic guidelines. From job placement, resume preparation and career counseling, to academic and tutorial referrals, to registration for Training Related Expenses (TREs), assistance with various forms mandated by the HRA, to disbursements of Free Metro Cards, free interview and employment clothing, and more, the C.O.P.E. Program is a reservoir of informational and hands-on resources.
College Science & Technology Entry Program (CSTEP): a joint project of the New York State Education Department and Queensborough Community College. CSTEP is a special enrichment program designed to provide a variety of services for students who are planning careers in the scientific, engineering, and technical and health related professions.
Foreign Language and Literatures Lab: a state-of-the-art audiovisual and multi-media language laboratory. that gives students access to a vast amount of news, events, information and practice through audiotapes, software, CD-ROMs, and links to the Internet.
Mathematics Learning Center: a tutoring and self-study facility accessible to all students. It is open year-round and provides assistance for all Mathematics; also offers preparatory classes for the CMAT, CPE and review sessions for final exams.
Nursing Resource Center: offers technology in the form of computerized financial and clinical systems has been widely documented as a means of promoting quality patient care delivery in all health care systems; staffed by a full time Higher Education Officer with a NYS Nursing License with extensive computer experience and a part time College Lab Technician.
Speech Department Digital Design Lab for Stage and Film: offers state of the art software in the Digital Design Lab for Stage and Film for the professional individual looking to improve upon skills in his/her particular field, individuals interested in a new discipline, and the general student on his/her path through their education.
Students with Disabilities: Offers a variety of services in order to to facilitate the academic success of students with disabilities through the provision of appropriate educational supports and settings while nurturing personal development.
