The Student Learning Center is just one of several academic support centers on campus. A list of additional learning support centers is below:
Academic Computing Center (ACC) : students and faculty can access software such as Microsoft Office, which includes such programs as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and FrontPage.
Campus Writing Center: provides QCC students with FREE tutoring assistance for all English (ENGL) and Basic English (BE) coursework, as well as any writing-related or WI assignment across the curriculum. With its friendly staff of highly trained writing tutors and workshop facilitators, the CWC offers many one-to-one, small group, workshop, and e-tutoring options for students to choose from!
College Discovery: an educational opportunity program that provides counseling, academic support services, and, in certain cases, financial aid to students who would otherwise be unable to attend college because of economic circumstances.
College Science & Technology Entry Program (CSTEP): a joint project of the New York State Education Department and Queensborough Community College. CSTEP is a special enrichment program designed to provide a variety of services for students who are planning careers in the scientific, engineering, and technical and health related professions.
CUNY Edge: provides a broad range of support services to QCC students that are receiving public assistance or who meet specific economic guidelines. From job placement, resume preparation and career counseling, to academic and tutorial referrals, to registration for Training Related Expenses (TREs), assistance with various forms mandated by the HRA, to disbursements of Free Metro Cards, free interview and employment clothing, and more, the CUNY Edge Program is a reservoir of informational and hands-on resources.
Foreign Language and Literatures Lab: a state-of-the-art audiovisual and multi-media language laboratory. that gives students access to a vast amount of news, events, information and practice through audiotapes, software, CD-ROMs, and links to the Internet.
Mathematics Learning Center: a tutoring and self-study facility accessible to all students. It is open year-round and provides assistance for all Mathematics; also offers preparatory classes for the CMAT, CPE and review sessions for final exams.
Nursing Resource Center: offers technology in the form of computerized financial and clinical systems has been widely documented as a means of promoting quality patient care delivery in all health care systems; staffed by a full time Higher Education Officer with a NYS Nursing License with extensive computer experience and a part time College Lab Technician.
Students with Disabilities: Offers a variety of services in order to to facilitate the academic success of students with disabilities through the provision of appropriate educational supports and settings while nurturing personal development.
